UT students, faculty, staff, and alumni will gather in Neyland Stadium at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 29, to attempt to break a Guinness World Record by building the largest human letter—a gigantic Power T.

It’s all part of Rokerthon, NBC Today show weatherman Al Roker’s journey to five universities across America to break world records live on national TV. UT’s attempt is going to be the biggest of the week—and, with your help, the best.

We want 4,000 members of the Volunteer family to help us build a Power T so large no will be able to beat it. There’s still time to sign up to join the fun.

Is our plan ambitious? You better believe it!

But there are plenty of Volunteerrific reasons to be part of the attempt. Here are the top 10:

1) Get a cool T-shirt. We’ve all got to wear the same thing when we break the record, so we’re going to give you a limited edition commemorative Largest Human Letter T-shirt.

2) Have the chance to win a really cool prize. In addition to giveaways for everyone, there will be drawings for UT items and one grand prize that will be awarded to a student.

3) Spend some time on the field in Neyland Stadium. See what the world looks like from the 50-yard line.

4) Because there’s no better way to start the day than hearing the pep band play “Rocky Top.”

5) Get up-close and personal with some true UT celebs … Coach Butch Jones, student-athletes, Smokey the mascot, Smokey the dog, and Davy Crockett.

6) Break a Guinness World Record. You won’t have to eat a hot dog with no hands in less than 23.12 seconds. Or peel and eat three oranges in less than 1 minute, 7.94 seconds. You’ll just have to get up bright and early and join 3,999 of your fellow Volunteers for a record-breaking Big Orange party like never before.

7) Be on the Today show. You don’t have to go to New York City and stand outside the NBC studio to get your 15 minutes of fame.

8) Hang out with Al Roker. America’s favorite weatherman is coming to our neck of the woods. He’ll be right there with us, broadcasting live for two hours from Neyland Stadium. Did you know he’s got a real Knoxville connection? His wife, Deborah Roberts, used to work at WBIR.

9) Show the world what Volunteer spirit looks like. Although Al is going to spotlight some of our favorite Volunteer traditions during his weather spots, nothing will show off our campus more than the students, faculty, staff, and alumni who make our university what it is.

10) Because we can’t do it without you. We want 4,000 people in the T. It’s a big goal, but hey, this is UT and we’re Volunteers. We can do it!
